FAQs - THE UK PROGRAMME FOR DENTISTS

1. Where do I have to register in order to begin work in the UK?
In order to work in the UK a dentist must be registered with the General Dental Council. From writing an application to the registration itself, Paragona offers full assistance in this process, right from the beginning of the course. Also, during the course, the future employer assists with the registration of the candidate with the relevant local dental association: www.gdc-uk.org, www.bda-dentistry.org.uk

FAQ – THE DANISH PROGRAMME FOR DOCTORS

1. What are the earnings of doctors in Denmark?
The basic pay rates are set through central pay negotiations. The employer also covers the doctor’s pension contributions and pays his salary during paid leave. In addition to this, most Danish doctors take overtime work or perform additional functions (e.g. in the Danish Doctors’ Association).

The Association’s website contains an in-depth discussion of the current pay scales and salaries for Danish doctors: www.fas.dk (general information), www.dadlet.dk/fas/open.index.htm (salary levels).

The doctors on the Paragona programme are offered exactly the same pay and conditions as their Danish counterparts. However, most of them will start in the position of Aldelningslæge.

Then they may be employed as Overlæge. Basic monthly salaries for these posts:

Aldelningslæge: DKK 43,197.75
Overlæge: DKK 49,119.92

This is exclusive of pension contributions:

Aldelningslæge: DKK 6,963.50
Overlæge: DKK 7,918.17
